this is the latest journal spread..thinking about God's invitation for us to follow in his ways of freedom.

i filmed the process and posted it in the "free play" section of my e-growth ning group (come join us. it's freeeee!), and there are a couple of videos on youtube in which my youngest son is playing right along with me and teaching me some really cool stuff along the way. enjoy!

i finally had time to play around with paint with a lil bit o "sharon style" combined with lil ol me style. it was a blast! i've learned some fun tips in her faces class and have thoroughlly enjoyed being able to watch her work.

this is the first non fabric painting i've done in a while. it felt great! happy weekend!

my deadline for opening the studio shoppe is march 1. i am so excited and having so much fun creating cool things to stock the shelves.

i'm mostly excited because i've decided that my personal choice is to make my art affordable for everyday people like me.

i've gone back and forth so many times about pricing and MY time. blah, blah, blah. i'm just sick of it.

my heart is to get my art into your hands, home, and life and to afford you the opportunity to find one of a kind gifts for the special people in your life, too.

so my excitement comes from knowing that even i would be able to buy my own art. for now, i know this is the right move- my heart is at peace...ahhhhhh.

makin' pretty books

i have always loved pretty paper and note pads. writing a quick to-do or don't-forget-this on something that is eye satisfying is such a simple pleasure.

i'm in the process of making some wonderful little pretty books for note taking, dream casting, sketching, record keeping, painting...or all of the above!

these pretty books will be part of the studio shoppe grand opening in the next few weeks! i continue to generate ideas of art-sy and affordable goodies to share with you, and i have a nice stash of things ready to go! stay tuned...

messy layers

i keep my painting table covered with kraft paper. when one part gets sufficiently covered with the remnants of all the work that's done on it (cleaning brushes, excess ink and paint from stamps, trying to get pens to work, stray paint strokes, etc...), i flip the table around and fill up the next side of the paper. today, i realized that the paper was looking pretty cool, and i decided to paint it up for use in future creations. of course, i forgot to take a before photo, but here's the after:

i have alisa burke to thank for finally helping me get my butt in gear regarding transforming the things around me with paint so that i can use them in my artistic endeavors. i am having so much fun painting all these messy layers on stuff and thinking up ways to use it all.

my new favorite art to-do is painting fabric. i have so many ideas, and can't wait to get them in the studio shoppe...alas, my body does not keep up with my brain!
